A fragment of this tumor broke off, traveled to her brain and caused a blockage, leading to a stroke, Mishra said.

The condition, known as embolization, occurs when a solid substance breaks away from the original tumor and lodges in another organ, most commonly the brain, he said.

"The patient arrived with symptoms of a stroke, which is particularly rare in young people, especially women, and after recognizing the rarity of stroke at such a young age, a comprehensive diagnosis was performed which led to the discovery of the tumor "he explained. said the cardiac surgeon.

Instead of opting for conventional open-heart surgery, the team led by Dr. Mishra performed a minimally invasive and "scarless" procedure, according to the release.

It was a small 5cm incision on the right breast without cutting the ribs, Mishra added.
