New Delhi [India], England and Leicestershire cricketer Lewis Kimber achieved a unique feat on Wednesday as he scored the fastest double century in the history of the County Championship.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Lewis Kimber scored 243 runs in 127 balls at a strike rate of 191.34 in Leicestershire's second innings against Sussex. However, Kimber's brilliant innings went in vain as Leicestershire suffered an 18-run defeat against Sussex at the County Ground in Hove.

Kimber's innings ended after Nathan McAndrew removed the 27-year-old from the crease in the 81st over.

The 27-year-old took just 100 balls to complete his double century against Sussex on Wednesday.

Apart from making the record of scoring the fastest double century in the history of the Coty Championship, Kimber also scored the second fastest double century in the fastest category of cricket.

Kimber was in his top form in the match against Sussex. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored 43 runs in a single over against Ollie Robinson.

There were nine balls in the over after Robinson overstepped three times and Kimber made no mistake in taking advantage. Kimber hit two sixes and six fours in the first eight balls against Robinson and took a run on the last ball. This incident happened in the 59th over of the second innings.

After scoring 43 against Robinson, Kimber fell 50 runs short of completing his double century. However, the wicketkeeper-batsman scored 50 runs in the next 19 balls and completed his double century in the second innings.

Sussex and England fast bowler Ollie Robinson made an unwanted record of scoring the most runs in an over in the championship.

Earlier, Lancashire's Andrew Flintoff had scored 38 runs on Surrey's Alex Tudor in 1998. Earlier this month, Surrey's Dan Lawrence had scored 38 runs on Worcestershire's Shoaib Bashir.
