Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that Ladakh residents are protesting in the bitter cold over the lack of control over their land and water.

Ramesh claimed that the only response from the Modi government has been continued silence and indifference.

In a post on Twitter, the Congress general secretary said that elections will be held in Ladakh on May 20, and that "in the last 10 years, Ladakh has been going through the worst phase of any other period of the Modi government – ​​complete apathy, malicious and step-motherly behaviour."
