Shinde handed over a check of Rs 50 lakh to the deceased labourer's wife Sushila, his father Balchandra, children Rishu and Pari and others at the CM residence here.

The official said the Rs 50 lakh includes Rs 35 lakh from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority and Rs 15 lakh from the main construction contractor L&T. He told that Rakesh's brother Durgesh has been offered a job in a private firm. ,

A massive search operation was underway for 17 days involving the National Disaster Response Force, Army's Military Engineering Service, Coast Guard, local fire brigades and other organizations specializing in such operations. The aim now is to retrieve Yadav's remains, the officer said.
