New Delhi, Larsen & Toubro on Monday said its renewable energy arm has received two orders from a leading developer in the Middle East to build two gigawatt scale solar PV plants.

"The renewables arm of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has finalized a mega order with a leading developer in the Middle East to build a two gigawatt scale solar PV plant," the company said in a regulatory filing.

L&T did not disclose financial details of the contract, but as per its project classification, a mega order is valued at between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000 crore.

The cumulative capacity of the plants will be 3.5 GW.

The scope of the orders also includes grid interconnections involving pooling substations and overhead transmission lines.

Detailed engineering and preliminary construction work is expected to begin shortly, the filing said.

"These orders are a welcome addition to our green portfolio as we build the company of the future with next-generation technologies," L&T Chairman and Managing Director S N Subramanian said.

Larsen & Toubro is a US$27 billion Indian multinational enterprise engaged in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects, high-tech manufacturing and services, operating across multiple geographies.

The company's shares were trading at Rs 3,600, down 0.78 per cent, on BSE.
