Mumbai: The body of Danny Karunakaran, one of the 45 Indians killed in the massive fire in Kuwait, reached the city early Saturday.

His father Baby Kutty, a resident of Malwani in the western suburbs, said the remains have been kept in the mortuary and the last rites will be performed on Sunday.

The body of Denny (33) was found by his family at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at around 3.45 am.

Kutty said Denny had traveled to Kuwait four years ago and was an accounting and sales coordinator at NBTC.

"I spoke to him about two months ago, and we had planned to fix his marriage. I met him two years ago, he was looking to buy a flat and was working hard. His death will bring grief to his family, Friends are shocked and neighbours,” said the distraught father.

Denny studied at Wilson College in South Mumbai and went to Bible College in Punalur, Kerala for further studies.

At least 49 foreign workers, 45 of them Indians, were killed and 50 others injured when a fire broke out in a seven-storey building in Mangaf, Kuwait on Wednesday.

The remaining deceased were Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian and Nepalese nationals.

About 195 migrant workers lived in the building in the Mangaf area of ​​southern Kuwait.
