New Delhi: Star batsman Virat Kohli was fined half his match fee on Monday for showing disagreement with the umpire's decision during Royal Challenger Bangalore's IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Kohli was given out after being caught off a waist-high full-toss by Harshit Rana during RCB's one-run loss to KKR at the Eden Gardens on Sunday.

The Hawk-Eye system of measuring no-balls by height came into use. The ball, which appeared to be falling on the batsman, was directly above Wes when it made contact with the ball.

The star batsman, who scored 18 runs in seven balls, was standing just outside the crease at that time.

TV umpire Michael Gough checked the height and according to Hawk-Eye tracking the ball would have passed at a height of 0.92 meters above Kohli's waist had he been standing straight at the crease.

After an animated discussion with the on-field umpire, Kohli walked off the field in an agitated manner.

Frustrated Kohli angrily knocked over the dustbin located near the team dressing room.

"Kohli committed a Level 1 offense under Article 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct. He pleaded guilty to the offense and accepted the sanction of the match referee.

"For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the match referee's decision will be final and binding," the statement said.
