Kolkata: Quick half-centuries from Will Jacques and Rajat Patidar were not enough for Royal Challengers Bangalore as they suffered a crushing one-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders in their IPL match here on Sunday.

Jacques (55, 32b, 4x5, 5x6) and Patidar (52, 23b, 3x4, 5x6) kept RCB in the race but they could not chase down the tough target of 223 runs set by KKR.

Despite the last over from Karn Sharma (20, 7b 3x6), RCB was all out for 221 runs.

For the home team, Andre Russell took three wickets (3/25), while Sunil Narine and Harshit Ren took two wickets each.

Earlier, KKR managed to score 222/6 thanks to a solid half-century from captain Shreyas Iyer and an early attack from opener Phil Salt.

Salt scored 48 runs in 16 balls while captain Iyer scored 50 runs in 36 balls.

Ramandeep Singh (24) and Andre Russell (27) took KKR's total score beyond 220 runs.

Cameron Green was the most successful bowler for RCB with figures of 2/35.
