Wilson became the 23rd player to lift the World Championship trophy at the Crucible. It is the sixth ranking title for Wilson and first since the 2021 European Masters, and his first Triple Crown success. Earning the top prize of £500,000, he climbed nine places in the rankings to reach a career high of third.

Jones, on the other hand, missed out on becoming only the second qualifier after Terry Griffiths and Shaun Murphy to lift the trophy. But appearing in his first ranking final, the £200,000 prize saw him move up 30 places to No. 14, as he broke into the elite top 16 for the first time.

After winning the first seven frames during the opening session on Sunday, Wilcox was able to extend his lead to the winning post, and although Tenasiou Jones tried hard, he could not reduce the gap to three. Coming from 17–11 down to 17–14 he produced a thrilling finish, but according to World Snooker reports, it proved too little.

Wilson's scoring was impressive throughout, scoring four centuries and eight breaks of 50 and he joined an elite group of players to capture the game's biggest prize.

"I've dreamed of this since I was six years old. Winning it with my whole family was exactly how I imagined it. Jack struggled and made it so hard for me to put it together It became difficult. In the last frame, I was potting the balls and suddenly I potted the match ball and I became the world champion.
