Thane, Bhiwandi district police on Saturday rescued a four-month-old baby and arrested a 17-year-old Bangladeshi girl for allegedly kidnapping him, an official said.

The child's father had lodged a complaint that he had gone missing from Manpad area of ​​Dombivali in the district in the morning.

Crime branch officials received information that the girl had kidnapped the child and was going to Bhiwandi. He was caught at the Bhiwandi State Transport Depot and the child was rescued, said Yogesh Awhad, senior inspector, Crime Unit II, Bhiwandi police.

He said that both were handed over to Manpada police station.

The girl, who was interrogated through an interpreter, told police that she was brought to India illegally by a man from Manpada who promised her a job. She claimed that he forced her into prostitution.

Inspector Awhad said that the motive behind kidnapping of the child is not yet known.
