Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday attended the 89th birthday celebrations of Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama held at the famous Galden Namge Lhatse Monastery in the state's Tawang district.

The 400-year-old monastery, known as Tawang Monastery, is the largest Buddhist monastery in India and the second largest in Asia.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also participated in the cake cutting program and participated in the prayer ceremony organized by the monks there.

Khandu posted on "

He said, "Your Holiness continue to bless our world with your compassion, wisdom and peace. Long live Your Holiness!"

Monks of Tawang Monastery offer the prayer ceremony Den-Tsik Monlam.

“May this special day inspire us to embrace compassion, empathy and kindness and strive towards creating a more harmonious world,” Khandu said.

To mark the occasion, Khandu along with others also planted trees at Urgeling, the birthplace of the sixth Dalai Lama.
