Thiruvananthapuram: Hundreds of people gathered at a small village near the Kerala capital on Tuesday to bid last farewell to the brave soldier who was killed two days ago in Chhattisgarh after Naxalites blew up the truck in which he was travelling. Was doing.

The mortal remains of R Vishnu, attached to CoBRA, the jungle warfare unit of the Central Reserve Police Force, was brought to his native village near Palod here in the early hours of Tuesday.

Mayor Arya Rajendran and other government officials received the body at the airport in the early hours and CRPF personnel paid homage to him.

As Vishnu's mortal remains were brought to the village in a mourning procession, apart from his relatives and friends, people including elders, women and children waited with heavy hearts to have his last darshan.

Heartbreaking scenes were witnessed at the soldier's newly constructed home as his young children, wife and parents were inconsolable at the sight of his lifeless body.

Civil Supplies Minister G R Anil visited his house and paid tribute to the deceased soldier.

Governor Arif Mohammad Khan paid floral tributes at the body which was kept for public homage at the school where he studied and consoled Vishnu's relatives there.

Before the last rites, CRPF jawans gave him full respect.
