The Tamil Nadu Special Investigation Team (SIT) has already detained three people from Coimbatore and Pollachi in connection with the case.

The SIT of Kerala Police is in Tamil Nadu for the last few days, as the main operators of the racket, Sabit Nasar and Sajith Shyam, have revealed the involvement of some people from Tamil Nadu during interrogation.

Salem was in the news in 2015 when a leading nephrologist associated with leading private hospitals in the area was arrested on charges of conducting around 80 illegal kidney transplants. The Tamil Nadu Intelligence Department has told the state police that some doctors and middlemen from Salem are also involved in the Kerala kidney racket.

Tamil Nadu SIT has also provided information to the Kerala team and joint investigation is underway in Salem.

Meanwhile, Kerala Police is also trying to deport Aluva native Madhu, who is considered one of the main middlemen of the Iran-based kidney racket, from Iran.

The Kerala kidney racket came into the public domain after the arrest of Sabith Nassar at Kochi's Nedumbassery International Airport on his return from Iran on May 19.

The arrest came after information was received from central intelligence agencies which were tracking Sabith's regular activities in Iran and other West Asian countries.
