Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Human Rights Commission (HRC) on Thursday ordered a probe into the complaint by a KSRTC bus driver who was accused of making obscene gestures towards his sister-in-law, city mayor Arya Rajendran. day before.

Commission acting chairman and judicial member K Baijunath directed the Thiruvananthapuram city police commissioner and the managing director of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to conduct an inquiry and submit a report within a week.

Complainant driver L H Yedu had alleged that Mayor Rajendran and his family members prevented him from performing his duty by stopping the bus with his personal vehicle on April 27.

He also alleged that when he lodged a complaint in this regard, the in-charge of the Cantt police station did not take any action.

DRIVE, in its complaint against Rajendran, her MLA husband and three others, had alleged that they disrupted the bus journey, raised obscene slogans against Hai and tried to deboard the passengers from the bus.

The driver also demanded that the Cantonment SHO be removed from the investigation and the investigation be conducted by some other agency.

Last Saturday night, the mayor and his family had a heated argument with the KSRTC bus driver after the vehicle was allegedly stopped at Palaya Junction.

Rajendran claimed that the KSRTC bus was not blocked, but CCTV visuals broadcast by new channels showed his personal car parked across the zebra line on the road.

She had said that when the bus stopped at the re-signal area, she had spoken to the driver to protest against his alleged sexual advances towards her and her sister-in-law.

The driver, who was booked in connection with the incident, has denied the allegations.
