On Tuesday, the Director General of Prosecution raised questions on the petition, but after hearing both the sides, the court directed to send notices to both CM Vijayan and Veena and postponed the hearing of the case to July 2.

Speaking to the media, Mathew Kuzhalandan said, "This is a normal process and now the case will be heard in detail and we will wait for it."

Opposition leader VD Satheesan said that the Congress party stands strongly behind the legal battle of Mathew Kuzhalandan.

Incidentally, Mathew Kuzhalandan approached the High Court after a vigilance court here in May rejected his plea seeking a court-monitored probe into corruption allegations against the father and daughter.

He had approached the court seeking a probe by the vigilance and anti-corruption department into allegations that Veena Vijayan's IT firm Xlogic used to receive monthly satisfaction from Kochi-based mining firm, Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) for mining clearances. .

It is noteworthy that Mathew Kuzhalandan came under pressure when the Revenue Department measured a resort he co-owns in Idukki district and registered a case against him for owning more land than the registered land.

Incidentally, various agencies including ED, SFIO and Income Tax Department have recorded statements of several people except Veena Vijayan in the case, which the Congress leader had highlighted last year based on the Income Tax Settlement Board's statement which stated that Exlogic received Rs 1.72 crore from CMRL

A similar petition was earlier filed by a Kochi resident on the corrupt behavior of CM Vijayan but the petitioner died suddenly.

The high court then appointed an amicus curiae and on Tuesday the court said both the petitions, though similar in nature, would be heard separately and posted the matter for July 3.
