The three, who had been booked as accused in the FIR registered on Tuesday, are Jinu, Pramod and Soman, all hailing from Mannar in Alappuzha.

Kala, 20, went missing from Mannar 15 years ago and a missing person case was registered. However, despite the police's efforts, nothing came of it and her husband Anil later remarried.

Anil has been named as the first accused and is currently employed in Israel and the police have been trying to locate him.

This case resurfaced last month when local police received an anonymous letter revealing crucial information about Kala and alleging that she had been murdered. Soon the police swung into action and arrested five people, of whom three were arrested and produced before the court, which took them into police custody.

After interrogation, a police team reached Anil's house on Tuesday and opened a septic tank to check it. After emptying it and with forensic experts currently busy scientifically examining what they recovered, police hope to solve the case.

But since those arrested give contrasting versions, the police are leaving nothing to chance, since first, the accused said that Kala's body was thrown into a river and, after further interrogation, they said that he was put in a septic tank. .

A forensic expert said that through a DNA test the situation can be resolved, but the challenge is that, after 15 years, it is doubtful that bone marrow is still present.

"In addition, if a body is dumped in a septic tank, decomposition takes a different path than if it is buried in a pit. Inside a septic tank, many reactions occur due to human excrement. Only a detailed and comprehensive analysis The forensic analysis will provide the actual report of what has been recovered from the septic tank," the expert stated.

Meanwhile, Kala's 16-year-old son said he wouldn't believe her mother was dead and missing, while Anil's father claimed Kala had long since left Anil to live with someone else.
