Kozhikode (Kerala), Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday attacked the Congress leadership, including Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi, and alleged that for the last five years, 18 UDF MPs from the state stood against the interests of Kerala in Parliament and refused to . Speaking up for the rights of the people of the southern state.

Addressing an election rally in Vatakara, where the Left has fielded former health minister and MLA KK Shailaja, the chief minister attacked the Congress leadership on various matters, including its stance on the CAA and the electoral bond scam.

Responding sharply to Congress's charge that there was some compromise between the Left and the BJP, Vijayan raised the issue of the DLF-Robert Vader connection and targeted AICC leader Priyanka Gandhi who was campaigning in the state.

"In 2019, 18 UDF members were elected. We would like to ask whether any of these members stood for the interest of Kerala? He stood by the agenda of the RSS, he did not even bother to criticize the central government in the Parliament. Did he say a single word for Kerala? Vijayan asked.

He said the UDF member refused to meet the Union Finance Minister and did not stand up for the rights of Kerala when the Center was economically strangulating the state.

"They (Congress) wanted to blame the Left government for the mistakes of the BJP-led central government," Vijayan said.

The state Congress leadership had recently alleged that there was some understanding between the BJP and the Left.Rahul Gandhi had also targeted Vijayan and wondered why Left leaders were targeting him when he was fighting against the BJP.

Vijayan said the Citizenship Amendment Act was the agenda of the RSS and asked how a political party like the Congress could decide not to mention it in its election manifesto.

The senior Left leader claimed that there were reports that strongly worded statements against the CAA included in the draft Congress manifesto were removed after the intervention of the top leadership.

"When the Sangh Parivar implements any of its agenda, people with secular ideology oppose it. Rahul Gandhi should clarify whether he is a secular person or a person with the same mindset as the Sangh Parivar. How can Congress not oppose such a law?,” Vijayan asked.

While targeting Priyanka Gandhi, Vijayan mentioned the CBI raid on private company DLF.

He said there were allegations of land deals between the company and Priyanka Gandhi's husband Robert Vadra.

Vijayan claimed that after the raid the company purchased electoral bonds worth Rs 170 crore. "The same BJP government later told the court that there was nothing illegal in the company's transactions," Vijayan said. The raid and the case ended after payment was made to BJP through electoral bonds."

He also attacked Leader of Opposition in the Assembly VD Satheesan for his statement in which he had said that there is some understanding between the BJP and the LDF.

Referring to various Congress leaders joining the BJP in the last few months and DLF buying electoral bonds from the BJP, Vijayan asked Satheesan not to spread lies against the Left party.

Vijayan said, "After receiving Rs 170 crore from DLF through electoral bonds, BJ stopped the raids. The BJP government gave a clean chit to DLF and Vadra. Now Satheesan needs to explain to us what was understood in this transaction."

The Left leader also criticized Satheesan for claiming in a recent press conference that the CPI(M) had also received electoral bonds.

Vijayan said, "The entire country knows that the Left parties were against the electoral bonanza system because it is corruption and it was the CPI(M) which moved the Supreme Court and exposed it."

Attacking Rahul Gandhi over his party's stand on the controversial CAA, Vijayan said the Wayanad MP has not said a single word against it.

Vijayan said, “Congress had jointly protested with the Left parties in Kerala, but later withdrew from the movement after opposition from the national leadership. If we see, we can understand that Congress has not spoken a single word against CAA outside Kerala."

Vijayan was campaigning for Shailaja in Vatakara, where the Congress has fielded its Palakkad MLA Shafi Parambil.

Lok Sabha elections in Kerala will be held on 26 April and the results will be declared on 4 June.
