Thiruvananthapuram, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday denied allegations that attempts were made to delay the CBI investigation into the death of a Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University student in Wayanad.

Answering a question in the state assembly on the death of 20-year-old Siddharth, who was found hanging inside the college hostel bathroom on February 18, Vijayan said there was no delay in handing over the case to the CBI and strict action was taken. Action was taken in the matter without any delay.

Vijayan was replying to Kalpetta MLA T Siddiqui's question on the action taken in the case and allegations of deliberate delay in the CBI investigation.

Vijayan said, "The state government did not delay the investigation of the case. But some officials of the Home Department failed to complete the process of handing over the case to the CBI. Three officials were suspended in this regard."

The Chief Minister also said that Siddharthan's family had met him on March 9 and on the same day, an order was issued to hand over the case to the CBI.

Called it an unfortunate incident. Vijayan said that based on the investigation, 20 accused have been arrested in the case.

According to the remand report submitted by the police, his classmates and seniors organized a public trial inside the hostel and alleged that he had misbehaved with a college student.

Police have booked the accused under Indian Penal Code sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon), 306 (abetment of suicide) and relevant sections of the Kerala Prohibition. is charged. Ragging Act.
