According to official data, the first half of 2024 has seen an unprecedented growth in temple earnings compared to the same period last year.
As the data shows, the income (from prasad and donations) of Kashi Vishwanath Dham increased by 24.66 percent while the number of devotees increased by 45.76 percent in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year.
Notably, the new corridor of Kashi Dham was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2021, which not only eased the movement of pilgrims from the ghats to the temple but also made it more accessible to global pilgrims.
The expansion and modernization of the temple complex has resulted in many facilities and abundant space for devotees to have darshan of Lord Shiva.
According to Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, Chief Executive Officer of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, more than 2 crore devotees visited Baba Vishwanath in 2023 (January to June), which increased to about 3.34 crore in 2024 (first half of the year).
Similarly, Dham's earnings, which were Rs 38.29 crore in 2023, increased to Rs 47.74 crore in 2024 (January to June).
