Mangaluru (Karnataka) [India] In a heart-wrenching incident on Wednesday night in Mangalore, Karnataka, two auto drivers lost their lives due to electric shock.

Raju, 50, and Devraj, 46, worked as auto drivers in the city and lived in a rented house near Rosario Church.

"The incident occurred on June 26 around 9 pm, during heavy rain a wire fell from a nearby electric pole. Raju came out of his room and unfortunately got hit by lightning. Hearing his screams, Devraj Using a sack, he ran to help but unfortunately had to face the same fate due to rain and live electric wires, said Police Commissioner Anupam Aggarwal.

"Despite efforts to save each other, both the persons died of electric shock on the spot. A case under section 304A has been registered based on the complaint by Raju's brother," the commissioner said.

Earlier, in a separate incident in Maharashtra's Pune, members of a family died of electric shock in Daund tehsil of Pune district, police said.

The incident occurred when the electricity supply wire of a neighboring house fell on the victims' house. Police officials said that a rod supporting this cable got bent, due to which electric current went into the tin shed of the victims' house.

The victims have been identified as Sunil Bhelerao (44), his wife Adika Bhelerao (37) and their teenage son Parashuram (18), police said.

Sunil Bhelerao got electrocuted while trying to take out clothes hanging on a metal wire near a tin shed. His son, Parashurama, rushed to help his father, but he too received a fatal blow. Adika Bhelerao saw this incident and tried to save her family, but she herself got electrocuted. Police said, unfortunately all three died on the spot.
