Shetty on Monday created a major controversy by saying that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi should be locked and slapped inside Parliament for his alleged anti-Hindu comments.

Kavur police issued a notice to Shetty and asked him to appear before them within three days.

Police registered a case against him under sections 351 (3) (criminal intimidation, insult), 353 (statements creating public mischief) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).

Congress leader Anil Kumar had filed a complaint in this regard.

“Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi should be locked inside the Parliament and slapped. Due to this action seven to eight FIRs will be registered. If Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi comes to Mangaluru city, we will make the same arrangements for him,” Shetty said.

He said that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has a picture of Lord Shiva in his hand.

“That madman does not know that if Lord Shiva opens his third eye, he will be reduced to ashes. He has adopted anti-Hindu policy. It is clear that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is a mad man. He thinks that whatever Hindus say about him, he will listen silently,” Shetty said.

He claimed that it is the BJP's duty to protect Hindu religion and institutions. Congress has started telling that Hindus and Hindutva are different. Hindus will have to face danger in future because of such leaders.”

“Shivaji and Maharana Pratap were born in the Hindu community. Whenever needed we will take out weapons. “We know very well how to retaliate after worshiping weapons,” he said.
