Mumbai, Karnataka Police has arrested a 47-year-old man in Mumbai for duping several people with the promise of facilitating admission into medical colleges, a police officer said on Saturday.

Organda Arvind Kumar, originally from Belgaum in Karnataka, was detained from his career counseling center in Sakinaka area of the city. He told that last year he was arrested in a fraud case registered against him in the neighboring state.

Kumar had taken money from the complainant to ensure a medical seat, but failed to complete the work, the officer said.

“This is not related to the NEET paper leak case. Kumar along with his team has opened a counseling center in Sakinaka, where Karnataka Police raided and arrested him,” the officer said.

Police said it is suspected that he has duped more people.

Amidst the CBI investigation into the NEET-UG paper leak case, admissions in medical colleges have come under question. The federal agency has made arrests in several states in connection with its investigation.
