Bengaluru, The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to Bhavani Revanna, mother of former JDS MP and rape accused Prajwal Revanna, in the kidnapping case of her son, who is one of the victims of sexual assault.

The court emphasized that Bhavani has already answered 85 questions during the investigation, making it unfair to claim that she is not cooperating with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating Prajwal. Still working. Is investigating cases of sexual exploitation against.

After he failed to join the interrogation, the SIT had sought his custody in the kidnapping case of a domestic help in KR Nagar in Mysore district.

Justice Krishna S Dixit, while accepting Bhavani's plea seeking anticipatory bail, sought to avoid a media trial and underlined the importance of not arresting women unnecessarily given the central role they play in families.

The judge also highlighted that the allegations of non-cooperation were unrelated as Bhavani had already given extensive responses during questioning.The court rejected the SIT's argument that they had given misleading answers.

On June 7, the court granted interim anticipatory bail to Bhavani with conditions barring him from entering Mysore and Hassan districts, and then extended it till June 14.

In addition to the earlier conditions, the court on Tuesday allowed the SIT to take him to Hassan and Mysuru districts for its investigation.

Bhavani is accused of trying to stop the woman, who was allegedly sexually assaulted by Prajwal, from filing a complaint.

Prajwal is currently in SIT custody for allegedly sexually assaulting several women and capturing the attacks on video.Cases of sexual exploitation came to light when pen-drives containing alleged explicit videos of Prajwal were circulated in Hassan ahead of the Lok Sabha elections on 26 April. SIT sleuths arrested Prajwal soon after he landed at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport from Germany on May 31. He left for Germany on 27 April, a day after Hassan went to the polls. A 'Blue Corner Notice' seeking information about his whereabouts was earlier issued by Interpol, following a request by the SIT through the Central Bureau of Investigation.
