The senior BJP leader also challenged the state government to declare how much funds it has allocated for the development of Bengaluru since it came to power last year.

Speaking to reporters here, Ashok said, “During the tenure of former CM BS Yediyurappa, Rs 7,000 crore was released in special grants for the development of Bengaluru in a year. Former CM Basavaraj Bommai released Rs 6,700 crore during his tenure. Let Congress bring out the figures.

He also asked the Congress government to account for the money allocated to fill 'lakhs of potholes' on Bengaluru roads.

“Nothing is happening here except the Chief Minister's photoshoot. The Commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Municipal Corporation (BBMP) claimed that all necessary measures were taken to deal with the rainy season a month ago. If the preparations were adequate, why would the CM visit the city,” Ashok questioned.

“Contractors are ready to commit suicide because the government has not paid due to lack of funds. What is the role of state government? When will the government release funds to fill the potholes? Ashok claimed that Bengaluru's worst water crisis has damaged the city's reputation on the global stage.

He also said that the state government should account for the funds released in the name of 'Brand Bengaluru'.

"Garbage collectors are under pressure because their bills have not been paid. People are questioning what they are getting in return for the taxes they pay. Does 'Brand Bengaluru' still exist, Or has it disappeared? The Congress government will have to answer. Protest at Friedo Park on May 28 to condemn this,” he said.
