New Delhi [India], Karj Virk, playing for the Rohtak Rowdies franchise in the Pro Panja League, became the Champion of Champions by defeating Dheeraj Singh, playing for the Kirak Hyderabad franchise, 3-0 in a best of 5 setup bout. The recently concluded Pro Panja League X Sheru Classic tournament. The tournament was being held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

The Champion of Champions was played between Ajay Chaudhary, Abhishek Pandey, Dheeraj Singh, Rahul Kumar and Karaj Virk. Of the five arm wrestlers, Dheeraj and Karaj made it to the finals.

In 60 kg category, Ajay Choudhary defeated Kaif Khan and won the first position. Nizamuddin Khan finished third, while Sukhwinder Singh and Mohammad Alzaib Khan finished fourth and fifth. In the 70 kg category, Abhishek Pandey won the first position by defeating Mir Farhat Ali in a tough match. Surendra Saini, Akashdeep Singh and MD Umair Khan stood third, fourth and fifth respectively.

In the 80kg category, Dheeraj Singh displayed his strength and defeated Rahul Kumar in a thrilling contest, while Farhan Chaudhary, Akshant Gupta and Dhruv Chaura finished third, fourth and fifth respectively. Meanwhile, in the over 80 kg category, Karaj Virk overcame the challenge of Parth Soni and won the first position, while Attar Singh, Gaurav Singh and Inderjeet secured the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.

Parveen Dabas, co-founder of Pro Panja League, talked about the success of the event. He said, “The Pro Panja League Sheru Classic receiving 300 athletes and the fact that we had to close registration at 300 two weeks before the tournament shows how popular armwrestling has become in the country, the tournament itself is extremely popular. The event was entertaining in which our Rohtak Rowdies star Karj Virk emerged champion. We look forward to the next edition of Sheru Classic in Mumbai in November 2024.”
