In New Delhi [India], BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla sharply criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, led by Mamata Banerjee, over the "kangaroo court" in north Bengal, where two people, including one woman, were beaten by a man "in broad daylight." in Uttar Dinajpur district.

Poonawalla alleged that the accused is said to be a close aide of the TMC MLA there. He said the TMC MLA defended the accused saying that the woman, who was beaten, had a "very evil character".

"TMC stands for Taliban mentality and culture. The entire country is shocked after watching the brutal video of a Taliban-style kangaroo court delivering justice in broad daylight on the streets of Bengal. The person who was doing this is said to be a close aide and a close person to the TMC MLA there, instead of harshly criticizing this shocking video, the TMC MLA actually defended it saying that the woman in question who was being beaten up had a very evil character,” the BJP leader said. .

Poonawalla criticized the TMC MLA for justifying the incident and said, "he has resorted to shaming the victims and has even said that in a 'Muslim Rashtra' there are certain terms and conditions, thus justifying this kind of barbaric act." "What is unfortunate is that those who speak about Manipur and women's issues are silent today."

He targeted the INDIA block leaders for their silence on several incidents including Cooch Behar, post-poll violence, Swati Maliwal issue and Chopra incident.

"People like Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Vadra, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Mahua Moitra, Sagarika Ghose, the entire INDI Alliance leadership base, were silent even when Sandeshkhali took place, they were silent when a Muslim woman who was a supporter of the BJP was dispossessed in Coochbehar, they were silent when post-election violence and rapes occurred in West Bengal, and they are silent on issues like Swati Maliwal and this kind of kangaroo justice that is being meted out. This shows that they don't care. They only care about their politically convenient agenda," Poonawalla said.

AAP MP Sandeep Pathak also reacted to the incident and said that though he has not seen the video, law and order should not be affected anywhere in the country.

"I have not seen the video and I do not have detailed information about it. Law and order should not be affected anywhere in the country. Everyone should have equal rights and honors. But politics has descended to such a level that "It It makes it difficult to judge what is right and wrong just by looking at it: who does it or makes it possible, why it happens, and whether it is right or wrong. TMC is in a better position to respond to it," he said.

The assault took place in Chopra, Uttar Dinajpur district, where a man was seen beating two people, including a woman.

Meanwhile, according to the police, the accused, identified as Tajmul Haque alias JCB, has been arrested and will be produced before the ACJM court in Islampur today.

Police further said that efforts are being made to spread misinformation regarding the Chopra incident.

"Efforts are being made from certain quarters to spread misinformation regarding an incident at Chopra PS under Islampur PD. The fact is that the police quickly identified and arrested a person who had publicly assaulted a lady," posted the District Islampur Police in X.
