Patna, Justice Arvind Singh Chandel took oath as judge of Patna High Court on Saturday.

Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office to Justice Chandel at a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan here. Many dignitaries were present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Justice Chandel was transferred from the Chhattisgarh High Court to the Patna High Court on May 29 through a notification issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice.

Born on September 1, 1963 in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Justice Chandel received a BA degree from Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Raipur and an LLB degree from Guru Ghasidas University, Bilaspur.

According to the website of Chhattisgarh High Court, he joined the Civil Court at Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh as Civil Judge Class II on August 26, 1987.

Subsequently, he served in the subordinate judiciary in various positions at various places in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

He also served as Presiding Officer, State Transport Appellate Tribunal, Raipur and District and Sessions Judge, Kawardha.

He also served as Additional Registrar (Administration), Registrar (Vigilance) and (Inspection and Investigation) of Chhattisgarh High Court.

He was elevated as additional judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court on June 27, 2017, and was sworn in as a permanent judge of the high court on September 2, 2019.
