After talks with the Director of Medical Education and health department officials late on Tuesday night, the Telangana Junior Doctors Association (T-JUDA) decided to call off the strike for the time being.

T-Juda leaders said they would wait till Wednesday evening for the government to issue orders accepting their demands. They warned that if the government failed to issue the GO, they would resume the strike from Thursday.

The government assured T-Judas that hostels would be built for junior doctors at Gandhi Hospital and Osmania Hospital. It was also assured that funds would be released for hostels.

However, junior doctors working at Osmania Hospital decided to continue the strike as the government had not given any clear assurance on the construction of the new building.

Doctors at Osmania Hospital continued their protest and demanded the government to construct a new building for the hospital. Junior doctors continued their protest in the hospital premises while raising slogans. They made it clear that they will not end the strike until the government issues an order to construct a new building.

Talks between T-Juda leaders and Director of Medical Education (DME) Dr N Vani and other officials continued till late Tuesday night.

Officials assured to repair the road at Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal and start college buses.

Junior doctors were boycotting out-patient services, elective surgeries and ward duties. However, they were attending emergency duties.

The government had also given assurance on the demands of timely distribution of stipend, honorarium for super-specialty senior residents and establishment of green channel for deployment of police personnel to prevent violence against doctors in hospitals.
