CHENNAI: JSW Infrastructure Ltd on Wednesday said its subsidiary - JSW Tuticorin Multipurpose Terminal Pvt Ltd - has entered into a concession agreement with VO Chidambaranar Port Authority for the development and mechanization of North Cargo Berth-III for handling dry bulk cargo. The signing of the concession agreement on July 2 followed the letter of award received by the company for the development of the project at V O Chidambaranar Port in Tuticorin, located about 600 km south of Chennai. V O Chidambaranar Port, earlier called 'Tuticorin Port Authority', was one of the major ports in the region.

The project involves development and mechanization of 7m cargo berth on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis at the port.

JSW Tuticorin Multipurpose Terminal Pvt Ltd will leverage its operational capabilities to handle bulk products and increase its cargo share on the east coast, it said in a press release on Wednesday.

Collaboration with VO Chidambaranar Port Authority also provides access to rich hinterland, which has a diverse cargo profile including dry bulk, coal, limestone, gypsum, rock phosphate.
