Gumla (Jharkhand), JMM MLA Chamra Linda on Wednesday filed her nomination papers as an independent candidate from Lohargada Lok Sabha seat in Jharkhand.

As per the seat-sharing agreement in the JMM-led ruling coalition, the Lohardag Lok Sabha seat went to the Congress, which fielded its former state unit chief and former MLA Sukhdev Bhagat.

"I had informed my party two years ago that I want to contest from this seat to highlight the issues of the people here. The BJP wants to destroy the identity of the tribals. Therefore, it is important that the tribals here Be the voice of the people.“This constituency is heard about in Delhi,” said Linda.

Linda, MLA from Bishnupur assembly seat, said that he will not withdraw his nomination.

"It doesn't matter who calls me, whether Kalpana Soren (wife of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren) or Basant Soren (Hemant Soren's younger brother), I will not withdraw my nomination," he said.

Linda said that her fight is not against Congress but for the tribals who want a separate Sarna religious code.

When Linda reached Gumla District Collectorate to file her nomination, many JMM workers were seen with her.

Reacting to the development, JMM general secretary and spokesperson Supriya Bhattacharya told reporters, "Wait for the return date." If he does not withdraw his nomination, the party will follow its rules.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP Sameer Oraon also filed his nomination papers as the BJP candidate from the seat amid the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Jharkhand party chief Babulal Marandi.Addressing a public rally at Kharaundi Bagicha in Gumla district, Patel said, "The people of Jharkhand will give their full support to Narendra Modi to make him the Prime Minister for the third time. They will ensure the victory of NDA candidates on all 14 seats." So that the target of 400 people across the country has been achieved.

If people vote for BJP after Lok Sabha elections, they will get the benefit of double engine government. BJP has expressed confidence in Oraon for Lohardaga Lok Sabha seat in place of sitting MP Sudarshan Bhagat, whose victory margin in 2019 was only 10,363. Oraon was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2018 and his term ends on May 3.Voting will be held on May 13 in Lohardaga Lok Sabha constituency along with Singhbhum, Khunti and Palamu of Jharkhand. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is 29 April.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP-AJSU alliance had won 12 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand.
