Giridih (Jharkhand) [India], Kalpana Soren, wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren, filed nomination papers for the Gandey Assembly by-election in Giridih on Monday. He was also accompanied by Jharkhand Chief Minister Chhagan Champai Soren, brother-in-law Basant Soren and others. Speaking to reporters after filing her nomination, Kalpana said, "The central government has made many promises. They will provide employment to crores of people and bring back money from abroad. The central government should first fulfill its promises and then Jharkhand should "We should talk about it." Speaking about her husband, Kalpana Soren said that if Hemant had completed his tenure, he would have continued in the post for the next 20-25 years. He said, "Hemant Soren could not complete his tenure (as chief minister) because BJ knew that if he completed his 5-year tenure, no one could remove him for the next 20-25 years." Giridih assembly seat had become vacant after the resignation of JMM MLA Sarfara Ahmed. Voting in Giridih Assembly will be held on May 20 along with the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections. Jailed Hemant Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 31 in a money laundering case related to the alleged land scam.
