Ranchi, Jharkhand High Court on Friday rejected the writ petition of jailed former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and refused to grant him bail.

However, the court allowed him to attend the funeral of his uncle in police custody on 6 May.

Soren had earlier challenged his arrest by the ED through a petition.

The court had reserved its verdict in the case on 28 February.

The court of Justice Rongon Mukhopadhyay has directed that he (Soren) can attend the funeral of his uncle in police custody.

Soren was arrested by the ED on January 31 in a money laundering case related to the alleged land scam. He is currently lodged in judicial custody in Birsa Munda Central Jail of Ranchi.

Soren was sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail on February 15 after 13 days of ED custody.
