Former CM Champai Soren was assigned the Department of Water Resources besides the Higher Education and Technical Education portfolios.

In addition to keeping the Home, Personnel and Cabinet Secretariat departments, the CM retained the portfolios that were not assigned to anyone.

The new ministers were sworn in on the same day, after Hemant Soren's government won a confidence vote in the assembly amid an opposition strike.

Soren returned as Jharkhand's 13th chief minister on July 4 after being released from jail on bail in a money laundering case related to an alleged land scam.

He had resigned as CM shortly before his arrest on January 31 by the Enforcement Directorate, following which Champai Soren took charge.
