Ranchi, Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren on Tuesday directed officials to take prompt action to protect the land rights of tribals and ensure their possession of the plots where disputes have arisen following a court verdict in their favor.

Emphasizing that Scheduled Tribes (STs) are the most marginalized and deprived population, Soren also asked officials to ensure that all cases registered under the SC-ST Act are dealt with on priority basis.

These instructions were given after reviewing the functioning of various departments in a high-level meeting here chaired by Soren.

"In land disputes related to Scheduled Tribes in which court decree has been passed, ensure that the tribals get possession of the land. Make sure that the cases registered under the SC-ST Act are disposed of as soon as possible on priority basis. Under this Cases should not be registered.“Pend and pay special attention and monitor it with utmost seriousness,” Soren told officials during the meeting, according to a statement issued by his office.

He also directed the officers to ensure that the dependents of soldiers martyred in the line of duty get the benefits of various government schemes on time.

He asked the police to ensure that the common citizens do not face any problem due to the establishment of security camps in the Naxal affected areas of the state.

Soren said, "Better maintenance of law and order in the state is the top priority of the state government. Any kind of laxity in crime control is not acceptable. Stop incidents of snatching, theft, dacoity and dacoity at all costs.,

He said, "Strengthen the patrolling system in urban areas as much as possible and keep monitoring it continuously. Identify the mafia and professional criminals and take effective legal action against them in a planned manner so that fear is created in their minds."

Noting that cases of illegal sale of medicines are continuously being reported around schools and colleges in many cities of the state, he directed the officials to ensure strict action.

Soren said, “Identify and take action against outsiders who help in opium cultivation in rural areas of the state, those who cultivate it and those who supply it in the market. Banning opium cultivation is one of the focus areas. There is one.,
