Senior JDU leader KC Tyagi said that despite repeated clarifications by the concerned departments on the correctness and sanctity of EVMs, the opposition has pounced on Elon Musk's absurd allegations and is now trying to create fresh controversy.

“The Election Commission has repeatedly clarified that EVMs cannot be manipulated. The former IT minister also pointed out how EVMs are custom designed and disconnected from the internet, leaving no room for hacking,” KC Tyagi told IANS.

His comments come after Rahul described EVMs as 'black boxes' and claimed to have concerns over transparency in the electoral process.

Rahul Gandhi said, "EVMs in India are a black box and no one is allowed to check them. Serious concerns are being raised about transparency in our electoral process. When there is a lack of accountability in institutions, democracy is a It becomes a sham and there is a risk of fraud.” Post on Sunday on X.

The JD(U) leader said his party strongly rejects the allegations of EVM manipulation and said Elon Musk's statement is no gospel truth and everyone will fall victim to it.

KC Tyagi said that free and fair elections were held and no one raised a finger on it, but after Musk's statement, a deliberate attempt is being made to create controversy regarding the 2024 elections.

He described the uproar over EVMs as a 'natural outcome' after the election defeat and pointed out how Indira Gandhi's 1971 election victory had invited similar outrage.

On the Lok Sabha Speaker's question, the JD(U) leader announced the party's unequivocal support for any candidate chosen by the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The election for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker is likely to be held on June 26.
