Bengaluru/Hassan JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna, brother of former MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexual abuse of several women, was arrested in Hassan on Sunday on charges of "unnatural offences" against him, police said.

He was booked on Saturday for allegedly sexually abusing a party worker a few days ago, and has been booked under various sections of the IPC, including 'unnatural offences'.

The investigation of the case has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Following this, Suraj was brought to Bengaluru from Hassan and produced before the judge of the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court (ACMM), at his residence here, who remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.

Suraj, a doctor, was questioned at the CEN police station in Hassan overnight before being arrested on Sunday morning, police sources said, adding that he was then taken to the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) for a medical exam.

A 27-year-old man had complained to the police that Suraj Revanna, the elder son of Holenarasipura MLA and former minister H D Revanna, sexually abused him at his farmhouse in Ghannikada on June 16.

Based on the complaint, the Holenarasipura police registered a case against the JD(S) MLC under sections 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC late on Saturday morning. evening.

However, Suraj Revanna (37), grandson of former chief minister H D Deve Gowda and nephew of Union minister H D Kumaraswamy, has categorically denied the allegation. He alleged that the man had filed a false complaint in an attempt to extort Rs 5 million from him.

On Friday, police registered an extortion case against the JD(S) worker following a complaint filed by Shivakumar, a close aide of Suraj Revanna.

Shivakumar had alleged that the party worker was trying to extort money from Suraj Revanna by threatening to file a false case of sexual assault against him. It has been alleged that while the man demanded Rs 5 million from Suraj Revanna, he later reduced it to Rs 2 million.

Meanwhile, the medical examination of the alleged victim was carried out at Bengaluru's Bowring Hospital, police sources said.

Home Minister G Parameshwara, speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, said that following the complaint, the police registered an FIR, assured Suraj Revanna and the investigation is continuing.

The case has already been handed over to the CID, he said. "A number of similar cases were handed over to the CID, this is also handed over to the CID," he said.

Regarding Suraj Revanna's complaint, he said, "All necessary action will be taken in this regard."

On Suraj Revanna alleging a conspiracy against his family, Parameshwara said, "A complaint has come. Based on it, all necessary action is being taken in accordance with the law. Apart from that, I am not aware of any political conspiracy that he has alleged. "

Suraj's brother and former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna is in police custody for allegedly sexually abusing several women and was arrested upon his return from Germany last month.

Prajwal, who lost the Hassan Lok Sabha seat in the Lok Sabha elections, was arrested on May 31 soon after returning from Germany, where he took shelter after cases of rape and intimidation were registered against him.

His father H D Revanna and his mother Bhavani, accused of kidnapping an alleged victim of his son Prajwal's sexual assault, are out on bail.

H D Revanna called the allegations against Suraj a "conspiracy" and said he has faith in God and the judiciary.

"I will not react to anything. I have faith in God and the judiciary. I will not fear such conspiracies. I know what it is. Time will decide," he said.

Not wanting to react to the case involving his nephew Suraj, Union minister and state JD(S) chief HD Kumaraswamy said he had nothing to do with the case and the law will follow. course.

"That issue, why are you asking me? It is not my concern. There is no need to react to all those things. The law will take its own course... What do I have to do with that (case)?" he said.
