New Delhi, Eminent personalities need to start being a little less self-obsessed and a little more generous, said filmmaker Jai Mehta, reacting to the viral video of Telugu superstar Nagarjuna's bodyguard pushing a differently-abled fan in an airport

On Sunday, the video began circulating on social media. It showed the actor leaving an airport accompanied by his and his "Kubera" co-star Dhanush's security team.

The fan, apparently a cafeteria employee, tried to approach Nagarjuna but was pushed by his bodyguard, causing him to stumble and almost fall. The bodyguard, however, helped him up.

Nagarjuna later apologized for the incident and said that he was not aware of what happened.

"I just found out about this... this shouldn't have happened!! I apologize to the gentleman and I will take the necessary precautions so that it doesn't happen in the future!!" Nagarjuna wrote on Sunday as he shared the video on his X account.

Jai Mehta, son of filmmaker Hansal Mehta, posted a lengthy note on X on Monday and said that celebrities' security personnel need to be sensitized on how to treat fans respectfully.

"Security guards should be educated on how to better and more respectfully control the crowd. Celebrities, politicians and athletes need to start obsessing a little less about themselves and be a little more generous.

"Don't get me wrong. I love this actor, I always have. But I hate that he didn't even bother to look at the person who walked in on him and he didn't even bother to look back. Person that his security guard pushed away! of him! Posted Jai Mehta.

The reason for the actors' enormous success is the "respect, adulation and admiration" they receive from "inconsequential" people, he added.

The director, known for his work on the series "Lootere" and "Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story", next spoke about his brother Pallava, who has Down syndrome and is a big fan of Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.

"What would really break my heart is... if I ever took my younger brother to a screening of an industry film with me, and by chance at this event his two idols were present. I wouldn't want the innocence and lack my brother's understanding of someone pushing him or throwing him like that, no matter who they are," he said.

"...I guess I'll have to teach the disabled child to keep his head down and his mouth closed instead of teaching an educated person with a healthy state of mind to be a little more aware and kind," he added.

Hansal Mehta shared his son's post on X and said that Pallava is also a 'fan' of Nagarjuna.

"I had requested through his brother and his close friends on several occasions that meeting the star would mean a lot to him. And it would be my gift to my son. When he had his eye surgery, the first person he recognized in the newspaper was that star," he said.

However, there was no response from the actor's team, the filmmaker revealed.

"I gave up. Now, over the years, Pallu's cognitive abilities have declined. And this will have no meaning even if it were to happen," he added.
