Jalna, The Maharashtra government was not issuing Kunbi certificates to Marathas despite finding 57 lakh supporting documents in the state and 5,000 in Hyderabad in neighboring Telangana and was conspiring to sow divisions in the community, it said on Friday. quota activist Manoj Jarange.

Addressing a rally in Jalna, he said that he would not rest until the community gets reservation in the Other Backward Classes segment as well as implementation of 'sage soyare' (those related by birth or marriage) notification from the state government.

The notification and some other measures to facilitate quota benefits for the Maratha community have been opposed by OBC leaders who claim that these measures will reduce the benefits of their segment.

"The state government has found 57 lakh documents in Maharashtra and 5,000 in Hyderabad which prove that Marathas are Kunbis. Despite this, the government is making excuses and intentionally not granting reservations. The state government is conspiring to divide the community to undermine the Maratha movement." he said.

Jarange said his July 13 deadline for giving reservation to the Maratha community remains and there will be no turning back, adding that he will not rest until the movement's objectives are achieved.

"Previous BJP and Congress governments gave 16 per cent quota to Marathas and later reduced it to 13 per cent. The current government has given only 10 per cent. This will not stand up to legal scrutiny and that is why "We are seeking reservations under the OBC Category. The BJP and the Congress are making false promises to the Maratha community," Jarange claimed.

He criticized state minister and BJP leader Girish Mahajan for saying that 'sage soyare' notification would not be pursued in court, and alleged that NCP minister Chhagan Bhujbal was indulging in politics of castes.

Bhujbal orchestrated the episode in which stones were pelted at OBC activists in Wadi Gododri near Antarwali Sarti and the plan was to create friction with the Marathas, he alleged. Bhujbal has routinely denied these claims.

Bhujbal destroyed the Shiv Sena when he was a part of it and then damaged the NCP, Jarange claimed, and asked why the BJP continued to associate with him (as part of the ruling alliance).

Jarange reiterated that he has no intention of devoting himself to politics and stated that "our fight for reservations is sincere."
