Gadchiroli: A 'jan militia' member of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) was arrested on Friday in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, carrying a reward of Rs 1.5 lakh on his head. A police officer gave this information.

Shankar Kudyam (34), a resident of Chhattisgarh, was arrested during a 'nakabandi' (road block investigation) on the Sironcha-Kaleshwaram road, the official said.

"Our investigation found that he is a Naxalite sympathizer and provided ration to the militants, put up their posters and gathered people for their meetings. Kudyam had a reward of Rs 1.5 lakh," he said.
