In a statement issued on Friday, Kulgam district police said, “In compliance with an order received from the Honorable Court, Kulgam Police today fitted a GPS tracking device on a drug smuggler released on bail in NDPS cases at Police Station Kulgam. The accused was arrested with the recovery of drugs and has recently got bail."

“The GPS anklet will be used to monitor the movement of the drug peddler and ensure that he does not violate the bail conditions,” the officials further said.

The GPS tracking device is fitted in the form of an anklet on a person released on bail and ensures that the concerned police station can monitor the person 24/7 without direct human monitoring.

The GPS tracking device was first fitted on a terrorist associate out on bail in Baramulla district in May, after which a court order was obtained to install the device to ensure that the person out on bail does not violate bail conditions. Don't do it.
