"In compliance with an order received from the Hon'ble Court, the police in Baramul today stuck a GPS tracking device on a contemplated terrorist associate, who was out on bail in a UA(P) case at Police Station Uri," officials said. ,

The accused was arrested at Police Station Uri under section 13, 18, 18B, 20 23, 40 UA(P) Act, 120B IPC, 7/25 of Arms Act in case FIR number 104/2023.

Police said, "The Honorable Court has extended his bail. The GPS anklet will be used to monitor the movements of the said terrorist associate and ensure that he does not violate the bail conditions."

GPS tracking of terror associates was used for the first time in Kupwara district earlier this month.

The use of this technology ensures 24/7 monitoring of the suspect without physical deployment of human tracking manpower.
