Bhaderwah/Jammu: A terrorist was killed by security forces in an ongoing encounter in a forest area in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Police officials gave this information.

The firing started around 9.50 am in Bajad village of Gandoh area amid an intensive search and cordon operation by police along with the Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) following the twin terrorist attacks in the hill district on June 11 and 12, officials said. . ,

On June 11, six security personnel were injured when terrorists attacked a joint check post in Chattargalla, while the next day a policeman was injured in an encounter with terrorists at Kota Top in Gandoh area.

Following the twin attacks, security forces intensified their anti-terrorist operations and announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh each on four Pakistani terrorists who infiltrated into the district and became active.

The police, assisted by security forces, launched an operation in the village of Sinu Panchayat, but the terrorists hiding in the dhok (mud house) opened heavy fire, the officer said. He said that one terrorist was killed in retaliation. After coming out, he started firing on the search parties.

Officials said the firing was continuing when last reports were received.

He said that an army helicopter was also seen hovering in the area for surveillance.

Meanwhile, a Chinese hand grenade was recovered from Pind village in Chingus area of ​​Rajouri district, officials said.

He said that a patrolling team of security forces recovered the grenade late on Tuesday evening.
