Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India] Rajan Kumar, a small-time actor who has earned quite a reputation imitating the great Charlie Chaplin, is on a mission these days. He launched a nationwide voter awareness program on Tuesday ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The actor, who launched the initiative in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, plans to take it to remote corners of the country before concluding in Kanyakumari. Rajan, a renowned actor and comedian, was seen roaming in Srinagar on Tuesday, raising awareness among the local people about exercising their democratic right to vote.

Speaking to ANI, Rajan said, “I am here as the brand ambassador of the Election Commission of India.It was a happy coincidence that through this initiative I also got a chance to visit Kashmir. Seeing me in Charlie Chaplin's trademark attire, a child came to remind me that today was the great actor's birth anniversary. I grew up watching Chaplin's famous works and have been carrying on his legacy for the last 24 years. “It came to my mind to remind people of their morality and constitutional responsibility to exercise their right before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. I have started this journey from Kashmir and it will end in Kanyakumari.,

Urging the people of Jammu and Kashmir to come out in large numbers on the polling day and get their fingers inked, the Election Commission brand ambassador said, “Awareness is the key, I believe such initiatives will help us in our Conscious of moral and constitutional duties. Voting is a democratic right given to us by the Constitution. As the brand ambassador of the Election Commission, I request all Kashmiris to vote by the hundreds. Come and exercise your franchise,” Rajan told ANI organizer Manzoor Ahmed Mir, adding that the aim was not only to raise general awareness about the right to vote, but also to open up more employment opportunities. "The main objective of the program was to make people aware of their voting rights.Our own Charlie Chaplin was called in from Mumbai to not only encourage you, especially the youth, to vote but also help Jammu and Kashmir realize its true potential. Apart from mainstream occupations, people here can acquire many skills to earn livelihood for themselves and their loved ones,” MI said

Popular actor and theater director Mushtaq Ali Ahmed Khan, who was present at the event, said that people should realize their responsibility as citizens and vote for the future of Jammu and Kashmir. ) should go there and vote.
