Kishtwar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], A police constable has been dismissed from services for his alleged involvement in several criminal cases, including a murder case, in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, the police said in a statement.

According to reports, a constable, identified as Sham Lal, joined district Kishtwar on November 9, 2023, while he was under suspension due to prolonged absence and involvement in criminal cases, police said.

"During his absence, the said constable was found involved in a case of murder of a person named Rajesh Dogra alias Mohan Teer, registered on March 4 at Police Station Phase-II, Mohali, Punjab," the police said in a statement. He was arrested." “On March 7, Punjab Police closed the New District Jail in Nabha, Punjab.”

He said that the departmental inquiry initiated against the accused found that the constable was involved in criminal cases.

It said, "As per the recommendations of the investigating officers appointed by District Police Kathua as well as Kishtwar, the said constable is habitual of absenteeism and has criminal mentality and is liable to be dismissed from services."

Following his dismissal, SSP Kishtwar warned all police personnel that if anyone is found involved in anti-national activities, drug trafficking or any heinous crime, he or she will face strict disciplinary action.
