Jammu, CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoA) with a Uttar Pradesh based private company to collaborate on value addition of selected aromatic crops of Jammu and Kashmir, Its spokesperson said.

He said that the agreement with Aromatic and Allied Chemicals, Bareilly will help in joint development of innovative aromatic products.

The spokesperson said that the MOA signing ceremony held at CSIR-IIIM proved to be an important milestone in the synergy between these two prestigious organizations.

The spokesperson said, “The objective of this collaboration is to leverage CSIR-IIIM's expertise in natural product research and efficiency in processing of aromatic and allied chemicals into aromatic oils to develop high value aromatic products that meet the market demands and Enhance agricultural sustainability.”

He said that this collaboration will bring a closer relationship between the farmers and aromatic industries of Jammu and Kashmir, ultimately enhancing the already booming agri-startups and agri-economy of the region.“This collaboration is in line with CSIR-IIIM's commitment to translate scientific knowledge into impactful applications,” said Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM.

“By combining our research strengths with insights from the aromatic and allied chemicals industry, we aim to create new pathways to the use of aromatic resources for economic and environmental benefits,” he said.

Dr. Ahmed said that such ventures will greatly help progressive farmers in value addition, product development and market linkages.
