“After obtaining search warrant from a special judge in Jammu, search teams comprising ACB officers, independent witnesses and magistrates were deployed at 16 locations throughout Jammu division and its adjoining areas,” the ACB said in a statement.

"Information was received that thousands of kanals of guardian land situated in Asarwan, Mishriwala and Bhalwal areas of Jammu have been fraudulently grabbed by land grabbers/gangsters in connivance with revenue and police officers/officials."

It said revenue records were falsified and the land was sold to different persons.

“During formal verification, it was found that in furtherance of the criminal conspiracy, Form 3-A (Form Alf) along with Power of Attorney (POA) was obtained from various PoK refugees, luring them with additional land. and they were provided with immediate funds. From Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000 through land grabbers.

"Subsequently, entries/additions in respect of additional portions of custodian lands were made in the revenue records by officers/employees of the Revenue and Custodian Departments by misusing their official positions," the statement said.

It said these lands were sold by the conductors and attorney holders to various persons including their gang leaders and members by resorting to fraudulent means, causing huge loss to the government.

“Apart from the five FIRs lodged in the case, verification is still ongoing to trace the remaining custodian lands grabbed by the land mafia in connivance with officials of the revenue, police and custodian departments,” the statement said.
