Nepal's PM Pranchanda, Sri Lanka's President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Mauritius' Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth congratulated PM Narendra Modi.

The BJP-led NDA is set to form its third consecutive government at the Centre, Lok Sabha election results announced on Tuesday, sending cheers even among the opposition Indian faction as it put up a strong show with the Congress.

BJP-led NDA is poised to win 291 seats, India Bloc 234 seats and other parties 18 seats. The contest in the Lok Sabha elections was much tougher than predicted by the exit polls, in which the NDA got a landslide victory.

In his remarks after most of the results came in the evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the BJP-led NDA will form the government for the third consecutive time and this is a victory for the resolve of 'Sabka Saath Sabka' for a developed India. He said that after six decades, a "new history" has been created.
