According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, the MoU plans to set up an 'Advanced Military Research and Incubation Centre' at MCTE to focus on advanced wireless technologies for the military.

SAMEER is an autonomous R&D laboratory under the IT Ministry.

The MoU was signed by Lieutenant General KH Gavas, Commandant, MCTE; In the presence of Dr. PH Rao, Director General of SAMEER, senior officials.

"This initiative is an important milestone in strengthening the technological capabilities of the Indian Army, in line with the vision declared by the Army Chief to make 2024 as the 'Technology Absorption Year for the Indian Army'," the IT Ministry said.

The partnership between SAMEER and MCTE represents a shared commitment to exploring new technological frontiers and solving modern battlefield challenges.

As part of the MoU, an incubation center will support the development of military-specific innovative solutions from concept to large-scale production involving MSMEs and start-ups.

Apart from this, the MoU also aims at knowledge exchange, training and development aspects.

“The collaboration between SAMEER and MCTE aims to enhance national security and technological infrastructure, the potential benefits of which will not only be limited to the military but will go far beyond,” the IT Ministry said.
