New Delhi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday said it is important for civil servants to rise above partisanship and urged them to avoid involving themselves in the political system.

Dhankhar also urged the trainee officers to give priority to the interest of the country and maintain the rule of law as their guiding principles.

Addressing the assistant secretaries of the IAS 2022 batch at the Vice President's residence, he said, "You are agents of change and important stakeholders in governance."

The Vice President lauded the Indian Civil Service for becoming more "representative" than ever before with the inclusion of people from vulnerable, marginalized and disadvantaged backgrounds.

He said, this diversity strengthens the administrative structure of the country.

Dhankhar also called upon the officers present to adopt a nationalist, federalist approach and always keep the interest of the nation supreme and maintain the rule of law.

Reflecting on India's economic transformation, Dhankhar said he was proud of the country's emergence as a preferred destination for investment.

He attributed this success to India's digital revolution and transparency in governance, which has won global praise.

“Our achievements have stunned the world,” he said. Even international organizations are now advising other countries to adopt India's model.
