New Delhi, International Shooting Sports Federation has appointed Amit Bhalla, a leading promoter of the sport in India, as 'ISSF President Ambassador' and has entrusted him with the task of promoting the sport among universities across the world.

The decision taken during the ISSF Executive Committee meeting means that Bhalla's main task will be to further strengthen relations with the International University Sports Federation (FISU).

ISSF chief Luciano Rossi said in a statement, "As ISSF President Ambassador, your duties include representing me (ISSF President) at competitions and institutional events, promoting ISSF and maintaining relations with institutions on my behalf. Is."

Bhalla is the vice-president of Manav Rachna University, a major center of Khelo India and has seen many shooters pass out, including Olympic medalists Gagan Narang and Vijay Kumar.

Asian Games and World Cup gold medalist double-trap shooter Ronjan Sodhi is the guru of shooting sports at the university.

Bhalla said, "This is a special role designed by ISSF. This is a good step by the international federation (ISSF) to collaborate and connect with universities."

“University sports has to be structured, it has to be developed and this is the first step. Now we are the host university for the World University Shooting Championship in November. This event has been allotted to us by the Association of Indian Universities.

“The dream is to hold the World University Games in India,” he said.
